The 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards handed out their trophies in Los Angeles on Friday, with Tracee Ellis Ross and Keke Palmer among the night’s standout winners.
Tracee Ellis Ross took home her first-ever Emmy, winning Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program for Solo Traveling With Tracee Ellis Ross. The win comes after five earlier nominations for her work on black-ish, and it lands at a good moment for the travel series, which has already been renewed for a second season.
Keke Palmer added a third Emmy to her collection, winning Outstanding Daytime Short Form Program for Glam Through the Ages. The project fits the format-hopping career Palmer has built in recent years, moving easily between scripted roles, hosting gigs and bite-sized digital content.
The red carpet carried its own star power for the occasion, with Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Hudson both turning out to help celebrate the winners.
Taken together, the two wins point to how far Ross and Palmer have each stretched their range this year, moving between hosting, travel documentary and the kind of short-form digital work reshaping daytime television.
