Charlotte was dressed in its finest Sunday best Saturday night as gospel music’s most celebrated artists, creatives, and industry leaders gathered for the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards at Spectrum Center. Caramel Magazine was on the scene to witness an evening where music, faith, culture, and excellence converged.

Celebrating another remarkable year in gospel music, the 2026 Stellar Awards carried the fitting theme, “Feels Like Home.” Hosted by 20-time GRAMMY Award winner Kirk Franklin, the ceremony marked the first time the prestigious awards show made its way to Charlotte, bringing a new energy to one of gospel music’s most anticipated celebrations.

The evening was a reflection of just how deeply gospel music continues to resonate across generations. From legendary voices to rising stars, the ceremony honored artists whose work continues to shape the sound and spirit of contemporary gospel while remaining rooted in faith, testimony, and purpose.

The night’s performances brought together an impressive collection of talent, including Aaron Cole, Childlike CiCi, Darrel Walls, Kierra Sheard, Jekalyn Carr, John P. Kee, Le’Andria Johnson, Lisa Knowles-Smith & The Brown Singers, Melvin Crispell III, PJ Morton, Tye Tribbett featuring ABLAZE, Vincent Bohanan & SOV, and others.

Among the evening’s notable winners was Lisa Knowles-Smith, who led the night with five wins, while Darrel Walls also enjoyed a standout evening. Their recognition reflected the depth of talent represented throughout this year’s ceremony and the continued evolution of gospel music.

Yet, as with every Stellar Awards celebration, the significance of the evening extended beyond the awards themselves. The Stellar Awards occupy a unique place within Black entertainment and culture, creating a space where artistry and faith are celebrated side by side.
