Checkout time just got pushed back. Ari Lennox has released Vacancy: Late Checkout, the deluxe edition of her acclaimed third studio album, and she didn’t just tack on a bonus track or two. The GRAMMY nominated R&B singer added nine new songs, including the recently released “Hookah Baby” and a fresh remix of “Mobbin in DC” featuring Foggieraw.
The deluxe is streaming everywhere now. Listen here.
Deeper Love, New Vocal Territory
Late Checkout digs even deeper into love and vulnerability, and it shows off Ari’s voice in ways fans haven’t heard before. It opens with the fan favorite “Hookah Baby,” an atmospheric cut built on swelling synths, drums and bass from producer Tommy “TBHits” Brown.
From there, Ari wears her heart on her sleeve on “Show Me” before sliding into the Jay Versace produced “Slide.” Other highlights include “Leave Me Alone,” which samples Shabba Ranks’ dancehall classic “Ting A Ling,” and “Speak Your Mind,” cowritten with GRAMMY winning songwriter Amy Allen. On that glossy, danceable groove, Ari switches between storytelling verses and a melodic hook.
Her vocals ripple through the hypnotic drums and bass of “Unicorn,” and the project closes with “Hot Mess,” where she looks inward and reminds herself she doesn’t have to have it all together.

Where It All Started
The original Vacancy arrived in January to glowing reviews, with many calling it the strongest vocal showing of Ari’s career. Its 15 tracks included “Twin Flame,” the nostalgic “24 Seconds” and “Soft Girl Era,” which reunited her with “Pressure” producers Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox.
A Big Year, and More to Come
It’s been a busy 2026 for the DC native. Ari wrapped her 31 city North American Vacancy tour in June, performed “Twin Flame” on The Jennifer Hudson Show, threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Seattle Mariners in April, played ACL Live at The Moody Theater, and paid tribute to D’Angelo at the 2026 BET Awards.
Next up, she returns to Austin City Limits for Season 52 with a medley spanning her catalog. The episode airs October 17 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT on PBS stations nationwide.
